New Toll Road Proposed To Connect Iconic Bali Tourism Destinations With Emerging Vacation Hotspots

Back in 2024, the then Minister of Tourism for Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno, confirmed that plans for a new toll highway connecting the south and north of the island were being drawn up. Speaking at the time, he confirmed that the tender for the project would go live in 2025, but there was little public discussion around the project again, until now.

Minister Uno told reporters in September 2024, “The toll road also connects to the re-tendering process of the Gilimanuk-Mengwi toll road. If there is this new toll road, hopefully, it will take around 90 minutes to reach North Bali.”

Cyclone Seed 93S: BMKG Warns of Heavy Rain in Bali

The Head of BMKG Teuku Faisal Fathani stated that 93S has caused several regions, including Bali, NTB, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to be showered with moderate to heavy rain. The cyclone seed also triggered 1.25-2.5 meters high waves in the Indian Ocean south of East Java to NTT, the waters south of East Java, and the southern part of Bali-Lombok-Alas Strait.

Bali Airport Serves 22 Million Passengers by November 2025

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali recorded 22.1 million passengers between January and November 2025, marking a one percent increase compared to the same period last year.

General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab said the airport handled 22,118,214 passengers during the 11-month period, up from 21,869,747 passengers in 2024. “This growth reflects Bali’s continued appeal as both an international and domestic destination,” Ahmad said in a statement on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
