September 9th, 2025 — Bali was struck by the most severe storm I’ve witnessed in 27 years of living here, and for many residents, the worst in their lifetime.
Torrential rains flooded rivers, destroyed roads, and tragically claimed more than twenty lives across the island. In the storm’s aftermath, many residents and visitors were quick to declare, “the rainy season is here.”
However, as someone who has lived, sailed, and studied Bali’s weather patterns for nearly three decades — five of those years crossing local channels daily in the yacht charter business — I boldly stated: "it is not the start of the rainy season".
